January 11, 2012 - MRI Wins the Lockheed Martin Rigel Small Business of the Year Award
MRI CEO, Debbie Kropp, had the surprise honor of accepting the Lockheed Martin Rigel Small Business of the Year Award at the Orion All Hands meeting on January 11, 2012 on behalf of our MRI Orion team. Per Michelle Butzke, Lockheed’s Small Business Advocate, “Although officially classified as the beta star of the Orion constellation, Rigel is the brightest. ...We named this award for our Small Businesses who many times shine brighter than the large Prime...” The MRI team members supporting Orion certainly deserve this award due to the exceptional support they provide, and their dedication and commitment to the Orion program. Congratulations!
July 26, 2011 - NASA Space Shuttle Recognition
As the Shuttle program comes to an end, MRI would like to recognize the many MRI team members who have contributed to this critical part of the American manned space flight program. Since 1981, NASA space shuttles have been rocketing from the Florida coast into Earth orbit. The five orbiters — Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour — have flown more than 130 times, carrying over 350 people into space and travelling more than half a billion miles, more than enough to reach Jupiter. Designed to return to Earth and land like a giant glider, the shuttle was the world's first reusable space vehicle. More than all of that, though, the shuttle program expanded the limits of human achievement and broadened our understanding of our world. We applaud our hardworking, wonderful employees who have help to make the Space Shuttle successful. Above is a photograph of most of our current employees who work on the Shuttle program now. April 1, 2011 - MRI participates in the ICM Easter Basket Project
On April 1, MRI hosted employee volunteers to put together Easter baskets for children in the Clear Lake community. We had an amazing amount of donations that ranged from socks to healthy snacks to toys. Volunteers assembled 80 baskets in the corporate conference room which were distributed before Easter through Interfaith Caring Ministries. Thank you to everyone who contributed items to the baskets and helped assemble them. This event was not only fun for everyone who could join in but helps make a difference in children’s lives.
November 1, 2010 – MRI employee Lawrence Thomas is presented with the Space Flight Awareness Award
On November 1, 2010, MRI Logistic Integrator, Lawrence Thomas will receive the prestigious Space Flight Awareness Award at Kennedy Space Center. The award will be presented with the next Shuttle launch. MRI congratulates Lawrence’s outstanding achievement and contribution to the United States Space Program. Mr. Thomas has been a member of the NASA community since 1996 and has worked with the Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) department for several years. In all of his work, Lawrence has demonstrated an exceptional sense of duty to the mission, his teammates, and his customer. He has a willingness to go above and beyond his assigned duties to ensure the job is performed satisfactorily. Mr. Thomas has demonstrated the ability to take the steps needed to ensure that the EVA team is postured to support a safe and successful mission. In order to be considered for this award, recipients must have significantly contributed beyond normal work output to the Space program.
June 8, 2010 – MRI employee David Johnson is presented with the Silver Snoopy Award
As the Program Property Manager for the One EVA Program, David has responsibility and accountability for over 70,000 property line items. These items are necessary to carry out Extravehicular Activity (EVA) in support of the International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle programs. The hardware and materials are physically held at various contractor facilities, NASA facilities, and on-orbit. By maintaining the One EVA property system, David ensures that all necessary space suit parts and tools are where they need to be, when they are needed, so that planning and execution of EVAs is smooth and meets NASA objectives. David orchestrates and controls complicated shipping and receiving system involving NASA, contractors, outside vendors, and commercial shippers. He ensures that the One EVA program complies with all applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and NASA FAR Supplement clauses. Additionally, David plans and carries out audits of all contractors and subcontractors in possession of Government property under the One EVA contract.
David exemplifies the best spirit of teamwork and accomplishing the mission. He is a worthy candidate for the Silver Snoopy.
February 2010 – May 2010 – MRI Technologies begins Mentor Protégé partnership with SpecPro, Inc.
SpecPro, Inc. has participated in the Air Force Mentor-Protégé program for over seven years. The intention of the program is for SpecPro, Inc. to transfer technology and business assistance to MRI Technologies so that MRI will increase its relationships with United States Air Force contractors, develop business and technical capabilities desired by the Air Force and the Department of Defense, and expand and diversify their customer base. As part of the program, SpecPro, Inc. has paired with the University of Texas at San Antonio to provide a variety of training opportunities to MRI Technologies employees across a broad spectrum of technical area focused on Cyber Security and Human Factors.
January 20, 2010 – MRI employee Cynthia Brode is presented with the Silver Snoopy Award
Cynthia Brode has been an invaluable employee with MRI since 1999. Cynthia’s work with NASA includes EVA Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR), Certification of EVA Readiness (CoER), Class I EMU Scheduling, EVA EMU Logistics IPT, EVA Tools Logistics IPT, and processing Space Shuttle Program (SSP) Change Requests (CR) evaluations for the EVA Office. Cynthia is somehow able to juggle all these factors so that meetings come off seamlessly, schedules are maintained, CRs are processed in a timely manner, and other EVA office support is provided as needed. In addition to her regular job duties, Cynthia provides backup support for the EVA Change Control Board (CCB), EMU Panel, and processing of ISS CRs. This backup is seamless and receives the same dedication as her assigned tasks.
The hard work she does to support her customers is not always seen as a significant contribution, but Cynthia does her part so well that all other participants are able to focus on the technical information they are presenting and/or reviewing. The presentation and assimilation of the technical data is fundamental to the success of Shuttle flights, space walks, Space Station assembly, hardware logistics, astronaut preparedness, the Johnson Space Center, and NASA.
July 23, 2009 - MRI Technologies is awarded the NASA JSC Process Improvement and Project Services Contract (PIPSC)
MRI has been awarded the Process Improvement and Project Services (PIPS) contract supporting the Engineering Directorate at JSC. The PIPS contract is the follow-on to the previous ASD contract. The contract has a 3 year base period and 2 year option period. Congratulations are due to the previous ASD team members for their outstanding support and the proposal team’s dedication to generating the winning proposal. We could not have been successful without the great team members we have supporting MRI.
January 30, 2009 - MRI Technologies receives silver Boeing Performance Excellence Award
CEO Debbie Kropp is proud to announce that MRI Technologies has received a 2008 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. MRI Technologies maintained a Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from Oct. 1, 2007, to Sept. 30, 2008. MRI Technologies supplies software configuration management services to Boeing for the International Space Station Program.
January 15, 2009 - MRI is a small business partner to Hamilton Sundstrand on the OneEVA contract and the first option period (Oct '09 through Sept '10) has been exercised
NASA has exercised an $86 million, one-year contract option with Hamilton Sundstrand Space Systems International of Windsor Locks, Conn., for work on spacesuits used on the space shuttles and the International Space Station.
Under the contract, Hamilton Sundstrand and its subcontractors perform engineering management for hardware systems used in spacewalks, supporting enhancements, ensuring flight and spacewalk readiness, providing safety and mission assurance, meeting flight milestones and achieving mission goals.
February 15, 2008 - MRI received notification that we have been awarded a one year extension to our Management Processes and Project Services contract
This contract is in support of the Avionic Systems Division (ASD) and the Engineering Directorate (EA). Our management team did an excellent job in a presentation to NASA in January. This award is a reflection of the great job our team does supporting ASD and EA.
October 2007 - Cindi Mueller receives the NASA Space Flight Awareness award
In recognition of Cindi's outstanding project and configuration management support to the Avionic Systems Division Flight Government Furnished Equipment projects and for providing out-standing teamwork that ex-emplifies stellar performance and a “get-it-done” attitude. Her attention to detail, quality performance, and a willingness to do whatever it takes is sincerely appreciated by NASA and the MRI Team.
August 2006 - MRI wins bid for the NASA Johnson Space Center Avionic Systems Division Contract
MRI won the Avionic Systems Division Contract. This is a two year contract to support the Avionic Systems Division in project support, web development, and business processes.
July 2006 - MRI wins bid for the NASA Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate Resource Management Contract
MRI teamed with Bastion Technologies to win the Engineering Directorate Resource Management Contract. This is a five year contract to support the Engineering Directorate in resource management.
Feb. 2, 2006 - MRI Technologies received notification from Small Business Administration of the company's designation as an 8(a) company.
The SBA's 8(a) Program, named for a section of the Small Business Act, is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. Inclusion in this program designates MRI as a Small Disadvantaged Business in addition to our Woman Owned status. MRI Technologies is listed in the CCR as Mathematical Research Inc. dba MRI Technologies.
August 2005 - Debbie Kropp Receives Outstanding Leadership Award
Women in Aerospace (WIA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in aerospace and related careers, and to recognizing the achievements of outstanding women in aerospace. In August 2005, WIA awarded the 2005 Outstanding Leadership Award to Deborah Ann Gardecki Kropp, our President and CEO.
